So Weiner resigned, and that’s about all I have to say about that. He was a congressman and should have conducted himself as such. People do wrong things; it is in our nature. However, you may want to be careful how “liberally” you are sending pictures of little Weiner to people when those pictures could be saved, distributed or intercepted somehow — who knows what people do these days with computers. Speaking of computers, I am a person who enjoys internet memes quite a bit, and one of the more recent ones is Nyan Cat. Nyan Cat is a flying cat with a pop tart for a body that is pooping out — or at least it visually appears so — a rainbow. This video has been out for a while, but recently, YouTube has garnered a sense of humor and changed the progress bar to the original Nyan Cat video to a little version of the cat himself. Check out the video, then check out my arrangement of the song.

Hey. Yesterday was the first day of Mini Camp at my school. Mini Camp is a two day preparatory band camp in the beginning of the summer to teach the new people and freshmen how to march, and all of the veterans have to come at least one day; Section Leaders, Captains and Drum Majors have to come both days. Last night went well, except that one of the people in my section was not there, which means he will have to do some major catch-up tonight. After the two days of Mini Camp, percussion will be training two times a week every week until the real 12 days of Band Camp begin the first week of August. Before tonight’s Mini Camp, I’ll be hanging out with a great friend of mine for an hour and then walking to school for Mini Camp. There’s only one band (non-percussion) freshman that I’ve actually begun to know so far. All of the rest I haven’t really “met,” as opposed to been introduced. Tonight may change that. Anyway, I’m off to be lazy about my summer work. See you around!

Summer is finally here, and along with summer comes BAND CAMP! The introductory days of band camp are next Monday and Tuesday, and then the band breaks until the first two weeks of August, when we have 12 straight days of band camp, then we go to the regular practicing schedule. However, percussion has been, is, and will continue to be practicing during the weeks. Starting next week, we are going from one practice per week to two. Other than that, I will be spending most of my free time gnawing away my summer work until it is done. I have so much summer work. >:(
The show that JMB Marching Band and Guard is playing this year is “Signs” from Gary P. Gilroy. The ending for the band is pretty crappy, though, so I have been enlisted by the band officials to write a new ending for the show. The ending is currently hidden in the dungeon of the website and is not accessible to anybody but me and the percussion caption head (title for the adult in full charge of the percussion). He is the one who has been guiding me through the writing of the ending. Now that the ending is written, there is a whole new adventure: Writing the percussion book to the show. The shows come with percussion music, sometimes it is pretty good. However, our section operates at a level above the music that comes with the show, so the caption head, assistant percussion caption head and the consultants write music for the section. This year, I will be one of the consultants and possibly write parts for the section. If I do, that will be extremely exciting.
Sorry for the large gaps of time in between posts on here! Life is complicated in high school. >.< Now that I am done with Sophomore year, I have more woes coming along, named the SAT and applying for colleges. I probably won’t get as many chances to write during this upcoming year, but when I do, I will certainly post them on the site. Don’t expect a new blog post every day or week, or upon the release of a new song. Visit often and look in the “songs” section for new stuff!

Hey readers. I again have gotten sidetracked with the many things going on in my recently busy high school life. I will make sure to post a little more often and get more music worked on. For now, however, I have an English research paper and a Spanish project which need work, so I bid you ado!
This video we saw in Spanish during our music unit makes me laugh whenever it gets to the part where the people dance like marionettes. Give it a listen!

Sorry for not posting any new music or posts in the past couple of months. My school puts on a production annually called “Rock And Roll Revival” and the season is very time consuming. The show is over now so I am back to work on new music. I recently got an old mandolin and a new acoustic electric guitar, so I can do more actual music recording. I’m working on a song now, which only has a short bit of audio available that I hastily recorded last night on my computer’s microphone. Give it a listen and comment and thoughts, ideas or suggestions!
Unnamed Guitar Tune in C major/A minor
Thanks

Exams are good things. At least to me.
I’ve had a lot more free time this week thanks to my exam exemptions. I’m chilling at a coffee shop, looking like an author writing his next novel, while using my computer that was probably manufactured before I was. I finally found my flash drive with my music files on it, so I can get back to working on my requests. I can not wait to get my 1TB external hard drive next week! I won’t have to keep carrying around, and consequently losing, my three 4GB flash drives. 1 terabyte = 1000 gigabytes. 1000GB/4GB flash drives = 250 OF MY FLASH DRIVE! Wooooo!
Yum.

OH MY HOODNESS. (By the way, I didn’t misspell that. It’s just something that a friend and I accidentally said, and it caught on as an inside joke.)
I have been receiving a few inquiries recently via email about band students and directors wanting to use music that I’ve written. I am having a hard time believing this because whenever I receive compliments like that, or in general, I tend not to take them well because I sometimes don’t believe that I’m capable of things like that. But when complete strangers in bands across the country, the world, say that, it makes me very happy.

Wooooooohoo! These past few days have been great!
A few days ago, I found out that we (my school’s drumline – http://youtube.com/CaptionHead ) were asked to play an old, catchy cadence for the step team at the big basketball game that took place today. So, I went and watched a video of an older generation of our drumline play it, learn the part from the video, practiced it with the line yesterday, and we had the performance today. It was exhilarating! I was the first drum to walk onto the court, and when everybody saw me, and consequently the rest of the line, they started cheering, almost louder than they did for the basketball team! It’s a great feeling, having upwards of 600-700 people cheering for you and 8 of your good friends and fellow percussionists. Auditions for next year’s drumline are starting Tuesday, so I am excited for that as well. I spent a good chunk of the afternoon at our tenor player’s house today, wherein I was working on my tenor-playing, while he worked on college essays, until we had to go to the performance. Anyway, today has been great!
Oh, I can’t forget the most recent thing! I got my new cowbell!
So now, my setup consists of:

It’s been a while since I’ve posted! I should be doing it more since WordPress is set up, making it much easier. Anywayyyy,
Recently, before the new year, there was a dodgeball tournament set up by my percussion section as a fundraiser, and it went very well — more so than originally expected — and I saw an old instructor that went to Peru for almost a year, but is now back. Then I spent the new year at my mom’s, and then the next day (January 2nd) was my birthday.
I have applied for an editing position in my school’s newspaper. I have already had a “junior editing position” for the past two years, but it isn’t really as much of a responsibility or position at all, really, as an actual one. So I have applied for that, as well as for induction into the Quill And Scroll Honor Society for journalism and writing. I hope that neither of these applications will be unsuccessful, since I put tons of time and effort into all the writing and journalistic things I do, and I’m pretty sure that my editor-in-chief and newspaper advisor know that.
